Let’s Go to the Movies! 📽

Get ready! The second part of the HIT Blockbuster… #Indepedence day is coming… The first film…was produced for 75 million, and earned more than $800 million at the global box office. It made Will Smith, then 28 years old… a worldwide summer brand.

Will Smith was on a roll releasing major Block Busters… every July… for a number of years straight.. He simply referred to it as BIG WILLIE WEEKEND!

In the 1996 movie… the climax of the film comes when Bill Pullman’s character…President Thomas J. Whitmore declares, “We’re fighting for our right to live, to exist.”  He sends a squadron of pilots (and a drunken one played by Randy Quaid) to do battle with murderous alien invaders who have destroyed most of the planet.

Soooo… a highly advertised headline… representing the NEW movie on posters… and billboards  declares:  “THIS TIME THEY MESSED WITH THE WRONG PLANET.”

20 years later… this sequel reportedly cost $200 million to make… and is expected to dominate the summer box office.

“Independence Day” veteran Bill Pullman is returning as President Thomas J. Whitmore…. 20 years later wearing a beard.

Pullman has 87 credits dating back to the 1986 TV show “Cagney and Lacey.” Some of his other credits include “Spaceballs,” horror movies like “The Grudge” and dramas like “Wyatt Earp.”

Veteran Stars Vivica Fox…

and Jeff Goldblum…are returning to film…

along with the star powered addition of Liam Hemsworth.

Unfortunately Will Smith is not apart of the 2016 film release..but his character’s absence is explained in the new film, and his son…played by Jessie T. Usher… has taken over the family business of flying through space.

🔹🔹So what’s different in this NEW version??? 🔹🔹
According to newly released details… INDEPENDENCE DAY RESURGENCE… is in 3-D and IMAX 3-D. The ships are bigger… aliens scarier..and technology more advanced… The OLD characters returning… have gone through significant changes–(quite naturally)..over 20 years.. While NEW faces bring exciting new energy.

Stars of the latest film #IndependenceDayResurgence… Bill Pulman… and  newcomer Jessie T. Usher were on hand to discuss the film…during an outdoor screening of the sequel in #Downtown #LosAngeles…during the #LAFilmFestival
